Pre-school aged children who are struggling to develop communication skills and / or meet other developmental milestones could benefit from a Multidisciplinary Screening Assessment. When children are very young, formal assessments are often difficult and may even be inappropriate to do, particularly when evaluating thinking skills. By involving children in play-based activities, children’s communication, motor, sensory, social and thinking development can be observed and assessed in a variety of contexts. A child’s responses to numerous activities provided by different professionals can assist in understanding the nature of a child’s development and can give direction about strategies which will encourage the best outcomes at a very early and crucial stage in a child’s life.
Individual, group or parent based therapy is also available to facilitate the acquisition of skills in all developmental areas. Therapy can be provided in an individually tailored format utilising the skills of Speech Language Pathologists, Developmental Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Psychologists.
